Choosing between them
Bidirectional or not
If the device under test regenerates, a unidirectional supply cannot absorb what it returns. That single question eliminates most of the field before any other spec matters.
Check the low end of the window
Supplies get specified against maximum voltage. Deep-discharge and cell-level work live near the minimum, and a high minimum operating voltage cannot go there.
Paralleling behaviour
Single-chassis rating and paralleled capability are different numbers. Confirm how units share and what the practical ceiling is in your configuration.
