A test system is a long-lived asset. Most of its cost and nearly all of its frustration arrive after delivery, which is why these exist as services rather than afterthoughts.

Why a rack needs supporting at all
Intepro systems are built on universal buses — VXI, PXI, LXI, CAN, Ethernet, GPIB and Serial — rather than one vendor's ecosystem. Off-the-shelf instrumentation integrates alongside Intepro and customer hardware. The practical consequence is that a test program is not hostage to a discontinued instrument: the same program runs across testers, and a rack can be re-equipped without rewriting the test.
PowerStar has been the test executive for power electronics work for over twenty years. Programs written fifteen years ago have an upgrade path to current hardware.

That is the whole argument for calibration contracts, upgrades and relocation rather than replacement: the rack is the asset, and the instruments inside it are consumable on a ten-year view. It is also why the replacement guides on this site exist — somebody has to write them when a manufacturer stops.
