Replacing the NH Research 4700

Regenerative AC electronic load.

What happened to it

No manufacturer product page exists. Resellers publish per-wattage variant pages that outrank the brand.

The substitution that goes wrong

AC loads are frequently replaced on power rating alone. Crest factor is what determines whether the load can actually absorb the waveform your DUT produces.

Specifications to match

  • AC voltage and frequency window, including any 400 Hz requirement
  • Crest factor and power factor capability against your actual DUT
  • Regenerative path interconnection requirements
  • Behaviour under unbalanced three-phase load

Before you swap the hardware

A replacement that matches on headline power can still fail on the details that keep an existing rack working.

  1. 01Match the AC voltage and frequency window, including any 400 Hz requirement.
  2. 02Verify crest factor and power factor capability against your DUT.
  3. 03Check grid-tie interconnection requirements for the regenerative path.

Where Intepro fits

The closest current equivalent is the PAS-F Regenerative AC Source / Grid Simulator. Every figure below is transcribed from its datasheet and re-checked against that document on each build.

Output current62.5A (PAS-F33045) to 277.8A (PAS-F33200) Max. Current(RMS)
Output frequencyStandard : 45 ~ 65Hz Option : 40-70Hz

Where this one stops

The PAS-F is a regenerative grid simulator that sources and sinks; it is not sold as an AC load and its specification is written from the source side. If your 4700 was used purely as a load and never as a source, you are paying for capability you will not use — worth saying before you quote, not after.
